FALL ROUNDUP, November 20-25, 2001 - Copper Mountain, CO
If you haven't been to Copper Mountain recently, prepare yourself for a whole new
experience. Megamillions have been spent rebuilding the base village, and Copper has
become almost a whole new village...and what has always a near-perfect ski mountain just
keeps getting better!
TRADITIONAL SKI WEEK, January 5-12, 2002 - Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada
Always one of our favorite ski destinations, and it's an especially good bargain with the
favorable exchange rate! This one will fill up fast!
Ranked as #1 for scenery, in North America by Ski Magazine with gold
medals for terrain, challenge, value, lifts & lines, lodging and snow quality. You'll
want to be included in the 44 Los Amigos visiting Lake Louise in January. Visit www.skilouise.com to get a view of the Base area at
Louise. You're invited to ski where your dollar makes more cents.
EXPEDITION, January 25 - February 3, 2002 - Andorra, Spain
Go ahead, look it up. Most of us had to! Andorra is one of those tiny European
principalities, located right on the French/Spanish border. Visit http://www.turisme.ad/. Toss in a couple of days
in Barcelona, and this promises to be a truly unique European experience for skiers and
sightseers alike. The Andorra trip includes 5 nights in Andorra and 2 nights in Barcelona.
WINTER SHOOTOUT, February 9-16, 2002 - Durango, Mtn Resort CO
OK, so it'll always be Purgatory to us longtime fans. By whatever name, it's still one of
the best ski mountains in the Rockies.
FINAL SHOWDOWN, March 1-9, 2002 - Alyeska, Alaska.
We'll
be there for the start of the Iditarod Dogsled Race in Anchorage! We're told the city goes
into party overdrive during the start of the race, just what we always look for in a
spring break trip. This could also be the first ski trip you ever took that includes a
cruise ship! We've also heard that this could be the best place in North America to catch
those sales on furs and jewelry; Alaska has no sales taxes!

FINAL SHOWDOWN

Maps to Alyeska, Alaska
Location: Alyeska Resort is located a short 40 minute drive or shuttle
transfer from Anchorage along Highway 1 (see maps above).
Keep in mind that the average high in March at the ski resort is a balmy
34 degrees as most people mistakenly think that it is unusually cold compared to other ski
areas...not true. Also another very distinct advantage is that it doesn't need to be
10,000 elevation to ski...skiing elevation is only 3900 feet, a lot of energy saved for
partying later and longer. |
Alyeska,
Alaska
Alyeska Resort is only 40 miles (64km) south of Anchorage
via the scenic Seward Highway 1. The Anchorage International Airport is served by most
major airlines and direct air service is offered from various cities on Alaska and
Northwest Airlines.

You're likely to spot eagles, mountain goats, and beluga whales along
the spectacular Turnagain Arm en-route to Alaska's largest ski resort. Just 40
minutes south of Anchorage, in an area of pristine, natural beauty and alpine challenge,
you will find Alyeska Resort. It remarkably lays claim to the lowest base elevation
of a ski resort in the world, although boasting a prodigious average snowfall of 556
inches a season. In fact, during the 1994/1995 ski season Alyeska received a record 918
inches of snow at the top of the mountain! Wide-open, above tree-line skiing tempts
intermediate to advanced skiers on the upper mountain, while beginners favor the broad,
gently sloping meadows below. Skiing, however, isn't the only activity to be
experienced while at Alyeska. The new chateau-style Alyeska Prince Hotel offers
tremendous views of the surrounding Chugach Mountains - and even Northern Lights wake-up
calls for those who want to watch nature's fireworks. There are a multitude of winter activities awaiting you.
Guests can also tour the skies above Prince William Sound by helicopter, explore the
nearby glaciers, or try their hand at dog sledding or snowmobiling. |
