January '98:
  • 1/06 - Happy Hour at Outback Restaurant, 16080 San Pedro (between Brook Hollow and Thousand Oaks) This is just a test
  • 1/10-17 - Traditional-Long Trip Leaves for Steamboat Springs. Colo.
  • 1/13 - Traditional-Short Trip Leaves to join the fun at Steamboat Springs. Colo.
  • 1-17 - Traditional-Long trip returns to check in at a local rehabilitation center with a lot of lies on how great they were!
  • 1-18 - Traditional-Short trip returns tired and hungry and lying through their teeth! Don't beleive them.
  • 1/20 - Monthly Club Meeting at Aggie Park
  • 1/31 - Expedition Trip Leaves to invade Sierra Nevada, Spain.

Febuary '98:
  • 2/03 - Happy Hour at Cafe Soleil, 5800 Broadway, 805-8866
  • 2/07 - 22 - San Antonio Stock Show and . . . Duh!, ain't thar some sorta Rodeo or sump'n in here somwar? How about at the Joe Freeman Colliseum, 3201 E. Houston St. 224-9600. Here are some details:

    San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo: Sixteen-day event featuring rodeos, livestock shows, a family fair and dozens of top country and western music stars. Presented by the San Antonio Livestock Exposition, Inc., to benefit their scholarship fund. Various times each day through February 22. General admission: $5 adults, $3 seniors, $2 children under 12. Concert admission (includes general admission fee): $12-$17 per person. $5 parking fee. Freeman Coliseum, 3201 E. Houston St. 224-9600.

  • 2-08 - Expedition Trip members return from their adventure to catch up on rest and relaxation!
  • 2/14-21 - Winter Shootout Trip Leaves for Telluride, Colo.
  • 2/14 - Don't you forget that Valentine or you'll be in the Dog House for sure.
  • 2/17 - Monthly Club meeting at Aggie Park
  • 2/21 - Winter Shootout Trip returns with ALL guns empty but still smokin'.

March '98:
  • 3/03 - Happy Hour at Champps Americana, 11075 IH-10 West in Huebner Oaks.

  • 3/15 - Spring Break trip "springs" for Big Mountain, Montana.
  • 3/17 - Watch out for the little Leprechauns throwing them Blarney Stones.
  • 3/17 - St. Patrick's Day Party at the Riverwalk, Downtown San Antonio.
  • 3/17 - Last Monthly Club meeting of THIS season at Aggie Park. Elections for next year's Club Officers. Don't forget to support them.
  • 3/21 - Spring Break Trip "bounces" back - boing! boing! Kinda like the folks in the "Miller Lite" TVcommercial with the low rider!
  • 3/21 - Final Showdown Trip leaves for Lake Louise, Canada just as the Big Mountain folks are bouncin' back.
  • 3/28 - Final Showdown trip returns exhausted from Lake Louise, Canada.

April '98: 
  • 4/01 - Your friendly Webmaster has picked a winning lottery ticket and will be off on an extended vacation after sharing his winnings with all his friends in Los Amigos . . . - . . . April Fool's!!!
  • 4/07 - Happy Hour at La Cantera Grill, 16401 La Cantera Parkway, 558-8194. Out IH10 past FM 1604 near Fiesta Texas and La Cantera Golf Course.

  • 4-12 - Easter Sunday - Go to Church since you know you haven't been in a while.
  • 4/03-4/05 - Friday-Sunday. Annual TSC Bid meeting at Holiday Inn Riverwalk, 217 N. St. Mary's. All members may attend for $35 per person. Friday night reception. Saturday will have all day presentations by ski resorts to try to convince us to come to their respective areas next year. There will be a Saturday evening meal and party (included in the $35). Sunday morning, delegates will vote on TSC trips for next year. We usually go out and eat after that. Anyone interested in being a trip leader is STRONGLY URGED to attend.
  • 4/03-4/05 - Strawberry Festival in Poteet, Texas.   Check your Email Announcements from our Webmaster for more details.
  • 4/21 - No meetings April-July. Next Regular meeting is August 18, 1997.
  • 4/17-26 - Fiesta San Antonio begins. Parades, Activities and Events all over town for 10 days. Best to read the daily paper to keep up.
  • 4/17 - Friday. Night in Alamo Heights,
  • 4/17-4/18 - Friday/Saturday. St. Mary's University Oyster Bake.
  • 4/20 - Monday. The annual Texas Cavalier's River parade will be held the first Monday during Fiesta, 21 April 97. Come watch the Texas Aggies marching band - They still haven't figured out they need a barge for a float!
  • 4/21-4/24 - Tuesday-Friday. See you at NIOSA in La Villita downtown. (That's "Night in Old San Antonio", Fiesta-San Antonio Style, for all you non-Texans.) Come by and visit us and say "Hi!" at the Fajita Booth (Pronounced "fah-hee-tah") in the "Old Plantation" Section.

May '98: 
  • 5/05, ~5:00-9:00 PM - Monthly Happy Hour at Jazz - A Louisiana Kitchen, 2632 Broadway, 78209 (just south of Mulberry), 472-2520. We've been here before. Join us again for Gumboand other snacks.
  • 5/16 - A very Special 25th Year End Party at Pedrotti's North Wind Ranch, 13715 Haussman Road, 225-6375 or 695-9026. One (1) mile outside FM 1604 on Haussman Raod. Shindig starts at 7:00 pm 'till 12:00 am. Dinner, Dancing, Drinking, and Door Prizes. Hey pardner, wear them Velcro Belt Buckles you got for Christmas!

June '98:  
  • 6/2 - Happy Hour at La Fogata, 2427 Vance Jackson, 340-1337.  Best known for their killer Margaritas.  But then, their Cerveza is pretty darn good and the cold ice tea and munchies are good too!

  • 6/19-21 - Annual Summer Melt Down. This year, at Port Royal Resort, Gee, what a surprise!!!  Located between Corpus Christi and Port Aransas, Texas.
  • This is it for all you Bay Watch Babes and Hunks, you better have been workin' out for this one! Have a real beachin' time swimmin', sunnin', 'n partyin'. Also available are tennis, horseback ridin', fishin', and boatin'. They even have more sunshine than you can stand. 
    Call Randy or Cindy Hinds, 210-496-5974 for the lowdown on the 'gitdowns. They have prices, they have condos, they have food on the grill, they have more info.  First come, first serve.  Call them ASAP!!

  • 7/7 - Happy Hour at Willies, 15801 San Pedro Ave ~5:30 - 7:00 pm,
  • 7/11 - Canyon Lake Party. This year, at Crane's Mill Park . Located on the SOUTH side of Canyon Lake through Startzville on State Hiway 2673.
  • 7/21 - Monthly Club meetings suspended until August 18, 1997.
  • 7/24 - Folks leave for New Zealand. In all this heat, I think it may be a very welcome trip! They may not want to return on Aug 1.
  • 7/25 - Missions Baseball!!  Call _______ or _____________, 210-494-SNOW for the lowdown on the 'gitdowns. Gates open at 6:00 pm. You get hotdogs and sodas for FREE! till 7:00 pm. Limited seating, 20 I think. RSVP early First come, first serve.  Call them ASAP!!

August '98:  
  • Aug 4 - 5:30-7 pm - Happy Hour at Crumpets, 3920 Harry Wurzbach Rd

  • Aug 14 - 7-10 pm Friday, "Lara & Reyes" are playing at Summer Jazz Fest at Crossroads Mall
    Admission is Free. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. No coolers, please. Refreshments
    for sale. If you're not familiar..Lara and Reyes are two guys that play guitars.
    They are world famous musicians and are both from San Antonio. Their latest album
    is Riverwalk and available at CD Warehouse on West Avenue and Blanco.
    KQ102 plays their must quite often. (Sorry, it ain't on KJ97!)

  • Aug. 15 - Saturday. 10:30 am.  '98 Tube and Lube, Old Mill Stream, on Comal River.  120 Landa St., New Braunfels, (830) 620-7600,

    - Tube rentals are availble or you can bring your own. You'll need to buy a shuttle pass to get a ride back to camp.  DON’T FORGET: WE’LL HAVE A CONTEST FOR THE MOST CREATIVE FLOATERS AND TUBES!!!                   
                             
    PACKING LIST: SUN screen, bathing suit, old sneakers and maybe lawn chairs for the picnic.
    Bring an extra shirt and hat for protection against the sun!!

    DIRECTIONS: From San Antonio, take I 35 North to exit 187 (Lake MQueeny) turn left and go under I 35.

    You’ll be on Seguin Avenue. Drive until you arrive at the circle, go half way around and circle (180º for you techies) and follow the signs for Landa Park/Hwy 46. When the road forks, you go to the left and under the railroad overpass. The Ole Mill Stream will be on your right, just past the overpass and right next to the Landa Park Enterance to Wurstfest Grounds.. You can park across across the street.

  • Aug. 18 - 7:30 pm Aggie Park  ******Kick-Off the NEW SKI SEASON ******
    Re-introduction of this year's Officers. Highlights on this year's planned Ski Trips by our new President, Dan Stires, a chance to get all kinds of information on the trips from this year's trip leaders.  It will be packed so come early.

    Tickets will also be available for Los Amigos Nite at Retama Park, September 26. This will include exclusive reservations in a private air conditioned lounge overlooking the Paddock on the Clubhouse - See Karen Thompson.
    And to keep you busy, Tickets  Reservations will be accepted for the the BIG Renaissance Festival trip in October - See Jan Ferrel.
  • Aug.21 - 5:30- 7 pm - Friday night at FAT Tuesdays - FREE drink coupons were handed out Tuesday evening at the 1st monthly meeting of the new season. We may still have a few left. Ask any Board member at the door. If you missed the meeting, shame on you.

    Anyway, "Fat Tuesdays" is a one-of-a-kind daquiri bar & restaurant featuring premium frozen drinks and fun food! (I've often wondered what "fun food" is. Dose this food tell jokes? What's the best way to play with it? Do you need two people to play with it? Or do you just throw it? Always wondered about that!)  Anyway, come-on down 'n join us.  Directions: 111 W. September '98:

  • Oct. 10 - 24th Annual Texas Renaissance Festival "The Year of the Royal Games"
    Be one of 52 lucky Amigos traveling back in time to the 16th century.  This is an event not to be missed - 500 Renaissance characters to meet, 250 shoppes to visit, exquisite food and drink from around the world.  This one-day trip to the past is $40.00 per person which includes your entry ticket, transporation, and light snacks on the bus.
